As defined here, image-guided interventions (IGI), integrate images for navigation during a treatment or biopsy. The goal of the IGI initiative is to produce technologies that will replace current treatments with minimally invasive, image-guided interventions. A disruptive technology is a new technological innovation that replaces the existing dominant technology. Examples of disruptive technologies include image-guided procedures that replace invasive surgery with faster, less invasive and/or lower-cost image-guided interventions. This FOA is intended to support the second phase of a two-phase project that will deliver image-guided interventions that have a high clinical impact.
