Phosphodiesterase 1 inhibition and molecular docking study of phytochemicals isolated from stem heartwood of Heterophragma adenophyllum Seem
2020, South African Journal of BotanyVinpocetine facilitates the anti-amnesic activity of estrogen-receptor alpha agonist in bilateral ovariectomy-challenged animals
2020, Behavioural Brain ResearchThe protective and therapeutic effects of vinpocetine, a PDE1 inhibitor, on oxidative stress and learning and memory impairment induced by an intracerebroventricular (ICV) injection of amyloid beta (aβ) peptide
2020, Behavioural Brain ResearchCitation Excerpt :Many experimental studies have shown a decline in memory and learning in AD models, including the reduced memory and learning in behavioral tests, such as the MWM test and passive avoidance learning task [46–48]. In another study, ICV injections of Aβ [1–42] in mice caused memory impairment in the Y-maze as well as MWM tests [49]. This study revealed that learning and memory deterioration following ICV injection of Aβ could be improved by vinpocetine.
An update on vinpocetine: New discoveries and clinical implications
2018, European Journal of PharmacologyCitation Excerpt :Moreover, vinpocetine is also effective in other animal inflammatory disease models, such as lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammatory pain (Ruiz-Miyazawa et al., 2015), LPS-induced lung inflammation (Jeon et al., 2010), mouse otitis media (Lee et al., 2015), and acute kidney injury (Fattori et al., 2017). The vasorelaxing effect of vinpocetine has also been shown in peripheral vessels from different species, which is likely mediated by inhibiting PDE1 that preferentially hydrolyzes cGMP with high affinities (Ahn et al., 1989; Chiu et al., 1988; Giachini et al., 2011; Hagiwara et al., 1984; Souness et al., 1989). It has been previously shown that PDE1A was upregulated in a rat model of nitroglycerin (NTG) tolerance, and vinpocetine partially restored the sensitivity of the tolerant vasculature to subsequent NTG exposure (Kim et al., 2001).
